Takjil at Perumnas Klender Market is Safe to Consume

Some 25 joint personnel found no hazardous substances in the ingredients and contents of the takjil (iftar snacks) sold in the area of Perumnas Klender Market, Jalan Teratai Putih Raya, Malakasari Urban Village, Duren Sawit Sub-district, East Jakarta.

18 samples were tested and all were declared safe for consumption

East Jakarta Health Sub-agency Head, Herwin Meifendy said the samples of takjil taken from the vendors were tested using a Rapid Test at the Malaka Jaya Urban Village Health Center.

"The tested samples include lontong (rice cake), bugis cake, otak-otak (fish cake), siomay (steamed fish dumplings), asinan (pickled fruits or vegetables with vinegar-based sauce), es campur (fruit served with shaved ice and syrup), crackers, red-yellow noodles, and tofu," he expressed, Friday (3/14).

He explained this was done to ensure that the takjil sold do not contain hazardous substances or materials such as formalin, yellow, borax, metanil yellow, and rhodamine B.

"In total, 18 samples were tested and all were declared safe for consumption," he explained.

He added this operation involved personnel from the Ministry of Health, Health Agency (Dinkes), and Satpol PP.

"We also provide education to traders to sell products that are safe for consumption," he explained.

Therefore, they also urged the public or consumers to be diligent before purchasing to avoid consuming food and beverages that could be harmful to health.

"Please, identify products that contain dangerous chemicals and make it a habit to check expiration labels," he asserted.
